Fanny & Alexander

Fanny & Alexander is an artistic collective founded in Ravenna in 1992 by Luigi Noah De Angelis (director, set designer, and lighting designer) and Chiara Lagani (dramaturg, author, and actress). The group is renowned for creating works that blend diverse artistic languages, including theater, visual arts, music, cinema, and literature. Their repertoire spans theatrical performances, live events, operas, and installations, realized through collaborations with an ever-evolving network of artists from various disciplines. This dynamic interaction, both on and off stage, often explores the interplay between tradition and new technologies.

Recent notable projects include Storia di un’amicizia, a theatrical adaptation of Elena Ferrante’s tetralogy, Se questo è Levi, Sylvie e Bruno, Manson, and Nina. In 2019, Fanny & Alexander was honored with the Ubu Special Award for Se questo è Levi.

In the 2023/24 season at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan, Fanny & Alexander collaborated with Federica Fracassi on the project Trilogy of the City of K., based on Ágota Kristóf’s novel. Luigi De Angelis directed and designed the lighting, sets, and video, while Chiara Lagani handled the adaptation and dramaturgy.
