Adescamenti is a project originally conceived in two parts for the Ravenna Festival. During the two-day Botteghe del Teatro event in the 2004 edition, festival audiences experienced a workshop during the day and a concert in the evening. The workshop and the concert are independent yet form a collective invitation to delve into Nabokov’s work from a different perspective.

Adescamenti also creates a network of suggestive sensory responses, involving varying intensities, themes, and targets. At its core lies the intricate relationship between literature, theater, and music, offering a complex, synesthetic experience for the audience. Spectators become part of a universe of scattered clues—a path to reconstruct, much like the breadcrumbs in the fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel. These are the hooks, lures, and enticements of Ada.

THE CONCERT

The concert’s repertoire consists of stage music from the performances Ardis I and Ardis II. This musical journey was developed over two years as part of the Ada, A Family Chronicle project. The pieces are transcriptions or adaptations of 20th-century works, intricately woven with the play’s textual composition. In this concert, the actor’s voice is treated as a musical instrument, on par with the piano, ondes Martenot, and sound machines.

The concert is also performed in a version featuring piano and flute, capturing the original tonal qualities of the pieces, which in Ardis I and Ardis II are otherwise adapted for the ondes Martenot.
